Christopher Guy Shapley

Dr. Christopher Guy Shapley, Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc. is a Consulting Engineer based in Bedford, New Hampshire. He did his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1967 from London University. He also completed his M.Sc.in Automotive Engineering in the year 1970 from Cranfield Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Automotive Engineering from Cranfield Institute of Technology in 1972. His specialties include Tire Mechanics, Suspension Mechanics, Automobile Dynamics, Semi-Trailer Truck Dynamics and Data Acquisition and Reduction. He has vast experience in analysis of car or truck defects and their role in loss of control; skidding; roll-over or collision, particularly when the defect is in the wheels, suspension, and steering, tires, brakes or load attachment. He was a Research Scientist at the Central Research Laboratory of the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, Akron, Ohio from November 1974 to January 1979. He served as a Research Officer at the Cranfield Institute of Technology, England, investigating the dynamic behaviour of semi-trailer trucks and cars from October 1969 to April 1974. He also worked as a Staff Analyst at Systems Technology, Los Angeles, California. He worked as a Graduate Engineer at the Ford Motor Company Research Centre, England, working in the Vehicle Dynamics Group for a year. He is a member of Society of Automotive Engineers and American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
