Mallard Benbrook, Ph.D. He is an organic proponent, organic industry consultant and paid â??expert witnessâ?? on pesticide and GMO-related lawsuits. He is trained as an agricultural economist. He has a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an undergraduate degree from Harvard University. He has done research on the impacts of agricultural systems, technology, and policy on the performance of the food and fiber system. He is a recognized expert on pest management systems, pesticide use and regulation, and the environmental and public health consequences of farming system choices. He has over 15 years in the debate over agricultural biotechnology. He has completed his B.A. Degree in Economics, Harvard University in 1971. He earned his M.A. Degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Wisconsin in 1979. He was awarded with Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from University of Wisconsin in 1980.He worked in Washington, D.C. on agricultural policy, science and regulatory issues from 1979 through 1997. He was the Executive Director of the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Research, and Foreign Agriculture, U.S. House of Representatives from 1984 to 1990 and served as the Executive Director, Board on Agriculture, National Academy of Sciences. He has run Benbrook Consulting Services since 1991. From 2006 to 2012, he served as the Chief Scientist of The Organic Center, a non-profit organization focused on the environmental and consumer health benefits of organic food and farming. From mid-2012 through May 15, 2015, he served as a Research Professor at Washington State University, where he led the â??Measure to Manageâ?? program.
