She was also certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology & Clinical Pathology and Pediatric Pathology. She acquired a B.A. degree from Dartmouth College in 1976, thereafter completed her M.D. from the Duke University School of Medicine in the 1979. She was the assistant intern resident in pediatrics and pathology, then was the Pathology Resident, Research Fellow in developmental neurosciences in Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, over the period of 1980 to 1982. She also did her residency in pathology over the year 1982 to 1983 and senior residency in pathology over the year 1983 to 1984, from Yale University Affiliated Programs, Hospital of Saint Raphael, New Haven, CT. She became a fellow in pathology, of Yale University Affiliated Program, Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT and a research fellow in neuro-ophthalmology of the Duke University Eye Center, Durham, NC. She was awarded the prestigious Young Clinical Scientist Award of the Association of Clinical Scientists in 1990. She has got professional affiliation to NYC Health + Hospitals / Coney Island, Northern Westchester Hospital, New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital. She has got several publications to her credit.
