During his postdoctoral training, he completed an internship in 1974 and residency in 1976 from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine at Baltimore, Maryland. He further completed fellowship in Clinical Pediatric Cardiology at The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Ontario in the year 1979. Currently, Dr. Bruce Stephen Alpert is a Professor of Pediatrics at Plough Foundation Chair of Excellence. He is also consulting staff at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center, Baptist Hospital & Baptist East, St. Francis Hospital, St. Jude Research Hospital and Regional Medical Center, Memphis, Tennessee.
