Brian Michael Boggess

Brian M. Boggess is a mechanical engineer from Charlotte, North Carolina. He performs accident/incident investigations in the areas of mechanical, biomechanical and general engineering, reconstruct the events precipitating to the end result and produce reports of detailed backgrounds and analysis to support the conclusions. He also researches new areas of accident and injury causation and analysis and perform pre-market testing/analysis to prevent future accidents. His specialties are vehicle safety and crashworthiness, biomechanical assessment of injury causation, commercial vehicle analysis including ECM downloads, forklift operator safety. He obtained his Master of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia. He gained experience in engineering mechanics and thermodynamics research and testing methods as an undergraduate through internships with NASA and at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, courtesy of the National Science Foundation. His automotive and biomechanical education and experience led him to Honda R&D Americas, Inc., where he spent over six years designing, developing, and testing occupant and pedestrian safety systems. He has also continued to add to his education and training completing courses through Northwestern University and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). He is actively involved in the engineering community through leadership roles on American National Standards Institute (ANSI) committees, and continued work through the SAE, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and other professional organizations.
