He served in the U.S. Army for the years of 1974 to 1977 as Lt. Colonel, Staff Surgeon, Instructor, and Director of Department of Experimental Surgery at Presidio of San Francisco. Currently, Dr. Gardiner is a general surgeon at Alta Bates Summit Medical Centre-Oakland, San Ramon Regional Medical Centre and John Muir Health-Walnut Creek Medical Centre. He also maintains his private practice at San Ramon, California. He has twelve publications to his credit. He is also a Surveyor for Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Expert Reviewer of Medical Board of California since 1997.
