Callisto previously served at Syracuse University in multiple leadership roles, including Senior Vice President for Safety and Chief Law Enforcement Officer from 2014 to 2021. In this capacity, he oversaw campus law enforcement, emergency management, environmental health and safety, and risk management functions. He also held roles as Chief of Public Safety and Deputy Chief, where he managed operations, implemented structural changes, and directed campus-wide safety initiatives. He continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member.
Prior to his university tenure, Callisto spent over two decades with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, retiring as Chief Deputy. His responsibilities included custody operations, policy development, training oversight, and budget management for a large correctional facility.
He holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University, a BA in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia College, and an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Onondaga Community College. His professional background includes instructional, advisory, and leadership roles across law enforcement and corrections contexts.
