Thereafter he completed his B.S. in 1977 from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas and then earned his M.D. in 1981 from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, Arkansas. He further pursued his internship in Surgery in 1982 and a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery in 1990 from Children's Hospital Medical Centre, Cincinnati, Ohio and University of California, San Francisco respectively. Currently, Dr. Flake is a general surgeon at Pennsylvania Hospital, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania. He has many publications to his credit. He has been America's Top Doctors for the years 2004 to 2014. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Surgeons.
