Dr. Al Condeluci, Ph.D. a consultant, trainer, and advocate for families and self advocates with disabilities, with a special focus on social capital and community engagement. He lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Youngstown State University in 1971. Then he did his Master of Social Work from University of Pittsburgh in 1975. He earned his Ph.D. degree on Higher Education - Communication and Learning from University of Pittsburgh in the year 1984. He served various roles in his long employment history where he worked as a Medical Caseworker at John J. Kane Hospital from 1971 to 1973. He was a part time instructor at Community College of Allegheny County and the Program Director at United Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh where he was programmatically responsible for all services offered through United Cerebral Palsy. He also serves as site Field Instructor for graduate and undergraduate social work students at University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work since 1975. He holds the position of Associate Professor at University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. He was the Chief Executive Officer of UCP Family of Corporations where he undertakes direct administrative responsibility for the UCP Corporations, including UCP of Pittsburgh, Community Living and Support Services and the UCP Foundation. He served in this capacity until his retirement in 2018. Al has authored many books, like The Macro Change Handbook (2015), Social Capital: The Key to Macro Change (2014), Together is Better (2008), The Essence of Interdependence (2008), Advocacy for Change (2004), Cultural Shifting (2002), Beyond Difference (1996) and Interdependence (1991).
