Aimon Iftikhar

Dr. Aimon Iftikhar, Ph.D., is a biomedical engineer and clinical research professional with experience in biomaterials, immunology, translational science, and clinical research. She currently serves as a Senior Scientist in Biomedical Engineering and Sciences at Exponent, where her work focuses on biomaterial-tissue interactions and the development of immunomodulatory strategies to better understand tissue-specific microenvironments.

Dr. Iftikhar earned her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Connecticut. Her research has involved biomolecule-eluting polymeric coatings, inflammatory and tissue remodeling responses to biomaterials, fertility preservation technologies, and the characterization of immune responses to implanted medical devices in women’s health applications.

Her background includes preclinical research in immunology, polymer chemistry, and biomaterial development, as well as experience translating scientific findings into clinically relevant research studies. She has managed multi-site clinical research programs and has authored and reviewed regulatory documents, procedures, and policies in accordance with clinical and laboratory standards, including IRB, CAP/CLIA, GLP/GCLP, and ISO requirements.

Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. Iftikhar served as a Clinical Research Scientist at Machaon Diagnostics. She has authored peer-reviewed publications, delivered scientific presentations at professional conferences, and holds certification in Good Clinical Practices (GCP) for Medical Device Clinical Investigations.
